This page is for ordering a printed tile from the shop. You pick the
place and the colours, and it arrives finished. If you have a 3D
printer at home and would rather make one yourself, these do a
similar job and hand you a file:
TouchTerrainFree, from Iowa State. Terrain only, very configurable.
Touch MapperFree tactile street maps, built for accessibility.
Terrain2STLFree and quick, terrain elevation only.
Blosm for BlenderA Blender add-on. The most control, and the steepest learning curve.
Not affiliated with any of them, and none of them are
checked or endorsed here. They are just the tools that come up when
people ask. Buildings, terrain and water vary a lot between them.
Your model, before it's printed. This preview shows
what would come out of the printer. Very thin details, like a narrow
spire or a slim railing, can be too fine for the nozzle and may print
simplified or not show up at all. Colours are shown on a screen, and
layer lines, gloss and how a matte filament catches the light all
change how it looks in the hand.
This usually takes under a minute. A big city
seen for the first time can take a few. You do not have to wait for it: your
colours and your code are already set, and the preview changes
nothing about them.
Changing a colour or switching a layer off afterwards
is instant. Only moving the tile or changing its size or building
height needs a new build.
Drag to spin it · two fingers (or right-drag) to
slide · pinch or scroll to zoom.
What to make
Terrain and circuit builders are temporarily unavailable.
Tile
The blue square on the map is what gets printed.
Drag it to move it, pull a corner to resize it, or press
Create new tile to draw a new one.
1600 m
0° · north up
Turn the tile with the round handle
above it on the map, for example to line it up with a street. It is
printed straight either way.
Paste a code copied from this page earlier. It brings
back the tile, size, name and colours.
The path
Name a circuit, load a ride file, or draw
the path on the map. The tile centres on it for you.
No path yet.

Frame and name
Your model sits in a frame, and the water is printed
into the frame's floor so it shows through. You can add a name in raised
letters along the top of the frame (optional): a place, a date, a name.
Your name here
The name can be as long as one side of the
frame. You can't type past that.
Colours
Road types: all
Choose which kinds of road to print. To show just a race
circuit, untick everything except Race tracks.
FAQ & quick fixes
The map found the wrong place
Choose from the location-labelled suggestions. For an address, include
the city and region or country, for example “100 Queen St W, Toronto,
Ontario”.
One layer covers most of my model
Some areas really are mostly forest, park or water. Try a smaller tile,
move the square slightly, or, for greenery, untick that layer under Colours. Build the
preview again before ordering.
Buildings or roads look thick or disappear
The tile is probably covering too much ground. Reduce Tile width until
the scale warning clears, or choose a larger print size.
The preview will not build
Check your internet connection, wait a minute, then press Build preview
again. A smaller tile is also faster and less likely to time out.
What do I put in Etsy's personalisation box?
Your order code, from the bottom of this page. Press Copy text, then paste
it into the personalisation box when you order on Etsy. It tells us
the place, size, colours and name, and nothing else. If you leave the
box blank, we can't tell which place you want, so we'll message you on
Etsy before printing anything.
Do you collect my information?
No. There are no accounts, no cookies and no tracking. The place and
name you choose are used only to build your preview, and are not kept.
The privacy page has the details.
Still having trouble?
Message me on Etsy for any issues. Include the place you searched, a
screenshot, and the copied personalisation code so I can help quickly.
